New Youth Hall FloorBYCC has been fortunate enough to secure funding from Biffaward to the sum of just over £3500 to replace the Youth Hall floor; the project has now been completed and is ready for use and you can see some pictures here. Biffa provides a range of public sector, commercial and industrial waste collection services as well as the management of 33 operational landfill sites across the UK. The multi-million pound a year Biffaward fund has been set up, using tax charged on waste taken into landfill sites, to help finance environmental projects near Biffa sites. ElevateA new youth session on Monday evenings from 7-9pm during term time, designed to raise young people's aspirations so that they meet their potential. system. BYCC/Lloyds Volunteer DayBroadfield Youth and Community Centre had a make-over with the help from Lloyds Banking Group, Large Corporate Gatwick & South East team this summer as part of Business in the Community Employee Volunteering scheme in the South East. You can read the full press release here (PDF, Adobe Reader required) and see some photos here. FundraisingThe Centre has recently received a grant of £1,923 from the Mercury FM Charity Appeal to replace the Youth Hall toilet floors and £50 from Action Earth, sponsored by Morrison's, for "Plant a Plant for Broadfield." We would like to thank Mercury FM for all the support they have given the Centre over the years and wish all the staff well in the future (Mercury FM closed on 25th July 2010, to be replaced by Heart). Escape Youth Drop-InThis takes place every Sunday between 2pm and 5pm and is open to all aged 11-17.
GlaxoSmithKlineThe Centre would like to thank GlaxoSmithKline, Worthing, and the two members of their staff, Steve Langridge and Hayden Waghorn, who kindly volunteered to tidy up the gardens around the Centre on Monday 5th October 2009, despite the awful weather. See here for some pictures. GSK have regular 'Orange Days' whereby staff are encouraged to help local charitable organisations, such as ours, with work in and around the charity. In August of this year a team of volunteers from GSK Crawley also had their 'Orange Day' with us and gave the Youth Hall a much needed lick of paint. Our thanks go to both GSK Worthing and Crawley for all their hard work. Click here for the News Archive. |
